During this time of transition, as we prepare to call our next settled minister, Rev. Nichols brings a wealth of experience, a keen intellect, and personal warmth to the shared ministry that we embrace as the cornerstone of our church life.
About the Reverend Nichols
Rev. Nichols has been an Interim Minister for the past ten years, having just completed serving his seventh congregation in that capacity. Prior to that, he served thirty-one years as a parish minister, twenty-one of it at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Wellesley Hills, MA, a church similar in size to Channing.Married to Nancy Falor Nichols, a School Psychologist in the Natick Public Schools, since 1967 and father to son, David, who teaches English at the Wellesley Middle School and daughter, Karen, an educator, who lives in Boone, NC, he has four grandchildren.
A lifelong Unitarian Universalist, author, and graduate of Meadville/Lombard Theological School, where he had the opportunity to study at the University of Chicago, Rev. Nichols recounts being influenced by the teachings of Paul Tillich, Daniel Boorstin, Martin Marty, Ron Engel and John Godbey, among others. Rev. Nichols has been an Accredited Interim Minister since 2004, was a previous Chair of the UUMA Guidelines Committee, and taught UU Polity at Andover Newton Theological School for 12 years.
