Anna Baltzer, author of "Witness in Palestine: Journal of
a Jewish American Woman in the Occupied Territories," will discuss and
sign copies of her book about life in occupied Palestine at the Newport
Public Library on November 7 at 7 pm, co-hosted by Channing's Social Justice
Committee.
Baltzer is a Fulbright scholor; granddaughter of Holocaust
survivors and three-time volunteer with the International Women's Peace
Service in the West Bank.
Through eyewitness stories and photos, Baltzer
will discuss what is happeing to Christians, Muslims and Jews in the Holy
Land. She will talk about the active non-violent resistance to occupation,
which involves Israelis and Palestinians. She will also examine the relationship
between developments on the ground and the prospects for lasting peace.
