Fellowship and Member Activities

Caregiving Committee

The Caregiving committee facilitates the delivery of social, emotional and physical support services within the Channing community. Recipients need this special attention due to illness, loss, or other life events (both celebratory and somber.) The committee utilizes the energies, talents and compassion of adults and children from the entire Channing family.

Caregiving activities include but are not limited to: giving rides, supplying meals, making visits, sending cards, making telephone calls, shopping, and posting a remembrance calendar in the parish hall. To request assistance for yourself or someone else, call any committee member, use a pew card, leave a note in the "angel box" at the rear of the sanctuary, or contact our minister.

Committee members meet monthly and take turns being "coordinator." Meetings are at 6PM on the first Monday of each month (excluding summer which is more informal) at the home of Nickie and George Kates, 52 Catherine Street, Newport, RI. New committee members are always welcome.

Fellowship Committee

The Fellowship Committee provides for social functions and entertainment events for the congregation. Their areas of responsibility include promoting fellowship and a sense of community within the congregation and among specific segments of the congregation as appropriate.

A coffee hour is held in the Parish Hall after Sunday Services. All are invited to visit and get to know each other. Fellowship events are offered on a regular basis. Some recent events have included "Women's Food and Fellowship" held in local restaurants, friendship dinners held in members' homes, family game nights, holiday decorating parties and Passover Seders, as well as group trips to theatrical and other artistic events.
