Channing Memorial Church
Social Justice Group
Meets: 1st Tues. of Month @ 7:00 pm - Channing House

The fourth Purpose of Channing Memorial Church is "To be a caring church family that works together to make the world a better place." The mission of the Social Justice Group is to help fulfill Channing's fourth Purpose by providing opportunities for Channing members and friends to extend our covenant of Shared Ministry into the broader community.

The Social Justice Group, through its various focus areas serves as the expressed social conscience of the Congregation, vigilant to community, state, national, and world events and conditions that call out to our liberal religious tradition for attention and action. As our members and friends find themselves compelled to speak and act on social issues, the Church encourages and empowers these expressions of faith, seeking the widest possible participation, and honoring all opinions consistent with our UU principles and Channing purposes.

Through watchfulness, education, empowerment, and participation, the Social Justice Group strives to cultivate the social awareness of our church family and nurture the expression of individual social conscience.
