Pre-Kindergarten
Ages 4 - 5
Parish Hall

Through games, activities, stories and circle time, we help our children develop a positive self-image, develop cooperative skills and feel safe, accepted and at home at church. At this age, leaders introduce them to basic UU concepts and terminology such as "Unitarian Universalist" and the "Flaming Chalice," and "Our Seven Principles."

Pillar I : Stories from the Jewish Bible. September 16 - December 16

Using stories from the Jewish Bible, Preschoolers will get an introduction to some timeless wisdom stories told in a Unitarian Universalist perspective. Games, crafts and activities accompany each story, and children are encouraged to begin their religious exploration in our loving community.

Pillar II : Exploring the Seven UU Principles. January 6 - March 16

The Pre-Kindergarten group will be using the curriculuum, We Are Many, We Are One. This curriculuum is based on the philosophy that young children learn about religion through relationships. What is a person? Who am I? How am I related to others? What are my responsibilities? These are religious questions that children begin to answer as they become acquainted with themselves, other people and their environment.

Pillar III : Green Congregation Lessons . March 30 - June 1

The Pre-Kindergarten group will again be using the curriculuum, We Are Many, We Are One, using the many fine lessons exploring an appreciation and connection with nature and themselves.

Leaders of our Red Team this year include Kathy Takata, Nici Lanowy and Betsy Saunders.
