Kindergarten - 1st Grade
Parish Hall

Programming for this age group aims to help children appreciate the worth and importance of every person, including themselves. Children work and play cooperatively as they refine skills in recognizing and expressing feelings. They explore and celebrate the natural world as well as the rich diversity of humankind. And they are beginning to discover and express a spiritual dimension.

Pillar I : Super Heroes, Bible People. September 16 - December 16.

The goals of Super Heroes - Bible People are: To introduce children to the stories of people from the Bible who have acted with courage and wisdom in their attempts to lead their lives fully and make the world a better place for others; to show how the lives of these people confirm the principles which we, as Unitarian Universalists, strive to promote; and to encourage the children to lead their own lives fully and to use their own positive "super powers" as they interact with the world around them, and as they do so, to grow both spiritually and ethically.

Pillar II : Exploring the Seven UU Principles. January 6 - March 16.

This group will be using the curriculuum, A Discovering Year, for this pillar. The children will explore their own unique selves, and then develop cooperation skills and friendships in their class and community. The Unitarian Universalist principles form a framework for discovery, as children reach out to learn about families, celebrating what is special, and looking at how we are same and different, to promote acceptance of others.

Pillar III : Green Congregation Lessons. March 30 - June 1.

Our Orange Team leaders this year include Ellen Bliss and Mohini Yalanis.
